A taste of crete
Immerse yourself in the culinary treasures of Crete
Immerse yourself in the culinary treasures of Crete
Description:
Crete is renowned for its simple yet delicious food, which is part of every aspect of local life - socialising, family life, celebration, even mourning. Cretan cuisine is based on high quality raw materials that are produced locally, in small scale facilities or even in nature. It is also based on the locals’ zeal, passion and traditions around food. On this tour, we invite you to join us in a celebration of mouth watering Cretan food and learn about the different ways of sourcing, preparing and - of course - enjoying food on Crete. We will cook with locals, go foraging for wild food, learn traditional bread making techniques and prepare cheese straight after milking! We will also taste a variety of local wines and spirits and visit hand-picked tavernas, nestled in picturesque villages. Our base will be the village of Gerakari, situated at the foothills of Mount Kedros, surrounded by the stunning nature of Amari, in the heart of Crete. Come on an empty stomach and leave with a heart full of tasty memories
