What is the weather going to be like?
The climate of Crete is temperate Mediterranean. Summers are dry and hot and winters are only mildly cold and rainy.
The average day temperature is 10-15°C in the winter, 15-25°C in the spring, 25°C in the summer and 17-25°C in the autumn. There are usually no more than 10 days of rainfall per month during winter months and rain is scarce during spring, summer and autumn. Crete is a very diverse island and the weather can be notably different between the coastal zone and mountainous areas, as well as between the western and eastern parts of the island. Most of our events take place in spring and autumn, so be prepared for mildly warm days and cooler nights.

What do I need to know about foraging in advance?
You don't need to know much - just be ready to enjoy Cretan nature!
You can join our trips & courses if you are a beginner or an experienced forager. Our events are essentially a celebration of Cretan nature, so all you need in advance is the desire to explore. Your guide will introduce you to foraging and answer any basic or in-depth questions you may have.

Is the food we prepare 100% foraged?
Foraged foods are an integral part of our trips & courses. However, the food we prepare is not 100% foraged.
Although we make every effort to keep the meals we prepare as forage-based as possible, it is not always feasible to forage for every single ingredient. This is due to several reasons: First, depending on the availability of wild food, we might not be able to prepare full meals based only on foraged foods. Second, several ingredients that have been incorporated into traditional Cretan cuisine (e.g. tomatoes, rice, potatoes) are not native wild foods. Finally, some ingredients that could be foraged (e.g. olive oil, flour), would require days' worth of effort to produce. You can be sure that we try to keep our cooking as self-sufficient as possible. We prepare some dishes and drinks that are 100% foraged, and use local organic ingredients for the rest.
